TikTok Shop Set-Up Checklist: Everything You Need Before Launch

The 14-point checklist we run every brand through before going live. Skip a step and lose your shop.

TikTok Shop Set-Up Checklist: Everything You Need Before Launch

We've seen brands lose weeks — sometimes their entire shop — to setup mistakes that were entirely avoidable. This is the checklist we run every brand through before launch, in order.

Legal and compliance

Business verification documents matching your legal entity exactly, brand registry (if applicable) linked before you list a single product, and category-specific certifications sorted in advance — supplements, cosmetics, and electronics each have their own documentation requirements and this is the single biggest cause of launch delays we see.

Catalog and listings

Every SKU needs a title structured for TikTok's search behavior (not Amazon's — they're different), at minimum 5 images including lifestyle shots, and a description written for a scrolling, sub-10-second attention span, not a research-mode Amazon shopper. Pricing should be checked against category benchmarks — TikTok Shop skews toward impulse-friendly price points, and misjudging this kills conversion regardless of how good the content is.

Fulfillment and logistics

Confirm shipping times you can actually hit — TikTok penalizes shops with high late-shipment rates in ways that throttle organic reach. Have a returns process documented before launch, not improvised after the first complaint.

Creator and content readiness

Have your first batch of samples ready to ship the day you go live — a shop with no content sitting for two weeks loses all its launch momentum. Line up 5–10 creators before launch day so content starts appearing within 48 hours of going live, not two weeks later once someone remembers to start recruiting.

The 14-point list

Business verification, brand registry, category certifications, SKU titles, product images (5+), TikTok-native descriptions, category-benchmarked pricing, shipping SLA confirmed, returns process documented, sample inventory ready, first creator batch confirmed, storefront banner and branding live, GMV tracking/analytics connected, and a person on your team who owns the shop daily — not a rotating responsibility. Miss any of these and you're launching with a handicap that's expensive to fix after the fact.
